Now that Emerge team manager, Blue Bolt is back from vacation, season 17 is just getting started, Bolt said "our riders have enjoyed there time off, and are now looking forward to getting back in the saddle, and getting team Emerge back upto Division 3."
Since last season there has been 2 new arrival's to the team in the shape of former Alberta 1 rider, Ely Haynes, an experienced leadout in the top division, and Jerome Neesens, a leadout who has recently been a captain for SprintChina in Division 6, but has previously rode for Scilian and Leukefans in the higher divisions. Also joining the team in the near future will be Kit Outram and Volodimir Mozarov from Redop, who has agreed a deal in principle after negotiations. They are also experienced leadout's in the top division.
These changes will provide a new look to the leadout train for Emerge, with riders still working for team captain Avery "the Bird" Nijholt. Nijholt himself is said to be very close to reaching his potential as one of the best sprinters in OCM. It is hoped with the better support he will be able to improve on the 2 podiums he achieved during season 16, including the win in Rotterdam Classic, the race which put his name on the OCM radar.
The new leadout train, of Nijholt (captain), Haynes, Neesens, Molarov, Outram, and Valentino (with young English riders Panek and Gillet in reserve) will be known by team Emerge as the "New Breed of Speed". This is because the team is still fairly new, and the time is now for Nijholt to live upto expectation.
Aims for the season
- Get back to Division 3
- Stabilise team in Division 3 (consistent top 6's), able to achieve top 9's in Div 2
- Compete in a Tour (achieve a top 5 in a stage)
- Podium in a Classic
- 25 results overall
